Personal History: A native of Petersburg, Virginia. Earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education from St. Augustine’s College in 1978; graduated Magna Cum Laude and was designated a Distinguished Military Graduate upon graduation from ROTC. Awarded a Master of Science Degree in Personnel Management; Resides in Bowie, MD with husband Walter and we have two children, one daughter-in-law, 2 granddaughters and 1 grandson:  Linwood, Brigetta, Vanessa, Laila, Blaire, and Wolfgang.

Duty Assignments:  Currently serving as the Deputy Director, Human Resources for the Army Regional Health Command- Atlantic, Ft. Belvoir. Most recent previous assignments were Director, Human Resources, US Army Garrison, Program Manager, Marketing and Communications at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and Deputy Chief of Staff for Personnel, US Army Medical Research and Materiel Command, the installation G-1 and Troop Commander at Ft. Detrick, MD, and Assistant Chief of Staff for Personnel/G-1 for the North Atlantic Regional Medical Command. Served in various positions at all Army levels including the 5th Infantry Division, US Army Aeromedical Center, Nurnberg Army Hospital, Bamberg Health Clinic, Radar Health Clinic, 18th Medical Command, US Army Personnel Command.

Organization/Positions/Assignments in which you were a FIRST:  The first African American woman to serve as the Deputy Chief, U.S. Army Medical Service Corps from 2004-2007, Office of the Medical Service Corps and Office of the Army Surgeon General.

Awards:  Awards include the Legion of Merit (3 awards), Meritorious Service Medal (8 awards), Army Commendation Medal (2 awards), Army Achievement Award (3 awards), Superior Civilian Service Awards, Commander’s Awards for Civilian Service, Army Achievement Medals for Civilian Service, DA Civilian Certificate of Achievement, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Expert Field Medical Badge, Army Staff Identification Badge, Order of Military Medical Merit Award, the Army Surgeon General’s “A” Proficiency Designator for professional excellence, Distinguished Member of the US Army Medical Department Regiment.

Other Professional Affiliations:  Board certified healthcare executive and Fellow in the American College of Health Care Executives.  Currently serving on the Board of Directors for the Army Medical Department Silver Caduceus Association. Diamond Life member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Prince George’s County Alumnae Chapter.
