Personal History: From Hernando, MS. Married to Colonel (Retired) Sidney Evans and has two sons. Bachelor of Science degree in Math Education, Mississippi State University and Master of Science in Administration from Central Michigan University. After retirement, Major Evans worked with the Prince William County school system as a substitute and High School Math teacher.

Duty Assignments:
Her first assignment was at Kelly AFB, Texas 1923th Comm Group as Chief of Record Communications and later Chief of Operations for the 1923rd Communications Group. In early 1980s became the 2046th Communications Group Chief of Communications Maintenance for Wright Patterson AFB (largest Air Force installation in the United States) near Dayton, Ohio. Selected for a special duty assignment as Chief of Resource Management for the Air Force Recruiting Squadron, and later served as a communications staff officer at Air Force Systems Command Headquarters at Andrews AFB. Assigned to Strategic Air Command Headquarters as Chief of Command, Control, Communications and Computers (C4I) Systems Resource Management and later selected for joint duty at the new unified US Strategic Command as a C4I systems staff officer.

Organization/Positions/Assignments in which you were a FIRST: In 1984 as a new Captain, I became the first woman to serve as Chief of Communications Maintenance for the 2046th Communications Group at Wright Patterson AFB. In this role I led 160 employees in 14 work centers responsible maintaining voice and record communications systems, weather and air traffic control equipment for the base.

Awards: Awarded the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, four Air Force Meritorious Service Medals, and the Air Force Commendation Medal. Several unit and campaign medals.
